In light of my recent post about hating the expression “on steroids”, I feel compelled to post this comment that I just read on CNN.
I well remember the Iranian revolution in 1979 & followed it closely at the time, as well as having read innumerable books about the over-throw of the Shah since then. Obama truly is Jimmy Carter on steroids!(more…)

I mention it because “for all intensive purposes” is, for whatever reason (probably because it’s so widespread), an especially irksome eggcorn to me, but this guy somehow managed to kick it up a notch: “Fall intense purpose” is utter nonsense–the worse kind of malapropism, since it’s not even particularly funny.(more…)
